Ramabai's life was directed towards fulfilling her dream of social awakening of women and establishing social establishment like "Seva Sadans" Which worked for the rehabilitation of troubled women. She encouraged women to become nurses; the profession was taboo for them at the time. The first Indian nurse was the product of "Seva Sadan". She even worked for women's right to franchise.
